  • How to install a touch kit!

OMG I feel so newbie about asking this, but how does a touchscreen work? I always thought that it was a thin floppy piece of plastic that went ontop of the screen? Today I got my 15.4 inch touch screen, but was shocked to see it comes combined with a piece of glass. I have taken my Lilliputs apart many times and have never noticed the glass piece with the touch part. Also is there a specific way the 4 wire ribbon should go, on the top part of the screen or the bottom? Does it even matter? What do I do if this touchscreen is too thick for the housing of the screen?

All the touchscreens I've seen are glass. They overlay the screen and the film is adhered to the glass.

I always hook mine up before reinstalling it and check for what is up or down. It's possible that the calibration program takes care of figuring out up or down but I never felt the desire to find out the hard way.

If it is too thick, the housing will constantly simulate a touch at some point along the edge of the screen. You'll have to find a way to take the pressure off.

Well i took down the roof top screen and took out the screen, I then layed the touch panel in and it doesnt fit. I have to do major mods to get it to fit in the casing. While I was making the mods my dremel kicked the bucket....

I had to take almost everything out the top area of the screen. I have to relocate the buttons and IR to the back of the screen. I am simply going to buy a seperate IR Transmitter, they are pretty cheap. I will have to have the screen redone though :-(
