  • Xenarc 800tsv signal scramble

Hi All, had a search but couldn't find an answer, so here goes.

Every now and then when I start my car, my 800tsv does its sync thing and the start, and the picture turns out all scrambled. Turning the screen off and on a few times normally sorts it, but its been happening more and more.

Has anyone had this happen before? I think they sync thing at the start is so the touch sensing is aligned properly, maybe I can turn that off?

    Thanks in advance.

It sounds like this could very well be a power issue. How are you powering it?

I'm just powering mine via the power cable that came with the screen. I cut the cig lighter end off and soldered it into a molex inside the PC case. As I understand this is the "done" way.

What power supply do you have in the PC?

I've got the M2-ATX that comes with the stage 3 mp3car.com PC kit.

I have a theory that as the screen is powering up, it is drawing more power than when it regularly runs, and isn't able to get enough out of the M2-atx.

It came with a cigarette lighter adapter, which means it was designed to run on unregulated car power, although this may reduce it's life. I'd run it for a week directly off the car's 12 volt power to see if the issue ever comes up. If it doesn't come up, then you know that you need to get either a dedicated 12 volt regulator for it or a more powerful psu.
