  • Will a relay work for this ????

I will like to power my lilliput lcd via the 12v rail on my molex connector.

I have the dsatx and i have it set to turn off the pc after 12mins from me exiting the car.

I do not want the monitor to stay on for 12mins after i have exited.

Is it possible to attach a relay and i have wired to the acc line?
that way the screen can turn OFF wen i take the key out of the ignition?

The DSATX has an additional 12v output.
I'm not certain if that is controlled by the shutdown controller timings or not. If not, you can use that 12v output for your Lilliput, and it will do exactly what you need.

Another way of accomplishing this is to use the egg-shaped regulator to power the screen directly form an ACC-controlled line. That is probably a far simpler means of accomplishing what you want.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

i forgot to mention a few things

the lcd is currently powered by the acc controlled cigarette lighter.
but the screen flickers when the bass hits. (i have a sub in the trunk)

so my intention is to power the lcd with "cleaner, more stable" current; connecting it to the dsatx.

the only problem with that configuration is when ever the carpc turns on , so will the screen.
i live in a bad neighborhood , and i use remote start.
i dont want to have the lcd on, attracting attention wen i am not in the car.
hence, my quest for a acc controlled line running from the dsatx.
i still want the pc to turn on with the car, and off after 12mins etc.

hope u can follow my thought processes...

here is a pic of how i want it to look.

the dsatx can be started by both the remote start or the acc line.

          Sure. That'll work fine.
If it's a standard 4-pin relay, just connect it like normal using the DSATX as source.
          30 - Positive from DSATX
          85 - Ground
          86 - Positive ACC
          87 - Lilliput

          Cheers,

          Kris

im soo happy lol, u made my day

            i will setup this weekend.

is there any special relay i need to get, like a 12v 30amp?
i think that may be an overkill..

              Yes.

Remember to use a relay with a diode...
because energy can store at relay coil and kill your psu...

can u possibly recommend a diode for such use?
I've never ventured that far in my electronic endeavors

                  Relay

a good quality relay like bosch will have it from factory.... or a 1 amp diode will do...
                  like this...

                      Relay.

                      mine is connected like this...
maybe you can insert another relay in the yellow 12v from psu and activate it with the acc.

a relay on your PSU power line would just prevent the whole computer from booting when remote started as well. if he put it on the red line, like his own post describes, he'd be golden.

                          question...
i will like to ensure the cleanest possible current for the screen.
so for grounding purposes (85 on the relay, and ground for the lcd) ... should i take the ground wire from the DSATX, or from the chassis?

                            A warning on that http://www.ripper1.com/tech/wiring/bosch_relay.gif - ie:

That diode is shown back to front if it follows conventional 85 to GND & 86 to +ve - maybe the diagram was taken from the site that had this info (as I posted on the12volt.com)....

DO NOT FOLLOW THE ADVICE IN THE ABOVE IMAGE

But to avoid any issues, I use ordinary relays and fit IN4004 (or 4001) across the coil. If it burns out, I know it and can replace it without replacing the relay.

                              Diode

so the image above is correct... just reverse the diode then.
