  • any one got experience with this display?

im about to order a transflective screen in 7" or 8" and i wonder if this monitor would be a good choice?

    http://store.mp3car.com/Industrial_G..._p/mon-068.htm

or are there other better choice's?
have been looking at the LinITX transflective and the CTF840-MSH

what would be the best choice, and whats up with that open frame CFT display... is it better to use for building in dash or what?

Same question.. I've read the review for the Industrial Grade Sunlight readable Screen (XF700HB-UNNA2) but i would want to see if anyone has used this that has no affiliation with mp3car. Has anyone taken it apart? Is it easy to dismantle and mount in a dash?

I just purchased one. Got it on the bench at the moment. Haven't had it in the sun yet however. It's replacing a Zenarc 700IDT that's mounted in the top DIN in my 2001 VW Jetta.

I reviewed several monitors and many forum threads and decided to take a chance on this model over others.

I intend to install it this weekend. I'm using the included bracket and mounting it inside the OEM DIN shelf.

I've done some PM's here, but this may be my first post in the forum.

I'll post some "real world" pictures if I can. Don't remember at the moment if this forum requires so many posts before I can attach pictures. If so, I'll link to them.

could be nice to get some info from you when you have installed it, and even better if you could test it in sun, if possible

Spec wise this monitor just has way better specs than any monitor i've seen on the market. The ability to connect to unregulated 12V is amazing as well as having auto power on with detection of VGA signal which will help get rid of that annoying blue no input screen. I'm really interested to see how easy or difficult it would be to take apart the monitor and mold into a dash.

Yes, specwise it seems to be very high up. But how does this compare to the available transflective models?

at $550, its hard to ignore. even the cheapest eby701 sunlight readable displays -which do perform well in the sun- still cost nearly $400 and theyre really not that nice other then the actual screen itself.

There was a review of this monitor here on the forums, but I can't find it anywhere. It was pretty heavily discussed and criticized. I wonder if the thread was deleted?

Sorry guys. Had to leave town unexpectantly for a sick relative in the hospital. So I had to abort the install.

I'm remoted into my home computer at the moment and took the time to look the thread up as I had bookmarked it. I show I was subscribed to the thread, but I had not gotten any updates by email that other posts had been added.

If I get back this weekend, I'll try again......

i am also curious about the quality of the monitor (pictures won't show up in the review thread), but your relative is more important! take care of them first, and take care of this monitor stuff later.
