  • Any Ideas on how to fix scratches on a touchscreen?

I scratched my touchscreen in my mitsubishi lancer but it didn't damage the screen at. It just left like a scuff mark and now its all rough to the touch. Looks like the antiglare coating got scratched. Does anyone here know of a way to repair the screen?

    Thanks,
    Ryan

Easiest way is to just replace the touch screen panel. You can buy them on ebay. I know the Lilliput EBY701 uses a 4 wire resistance touch screen. I dont know what screen you have though, since you didnt list it.

God [email protected]... did someone try to eat the touchpanel? Im honestly not sure, its a factory headunit so I dont know the internals of it. You may want to take the unit apart and take pictures of the touch panel. I would assume its a 4 wire touch panel, but i cant tell since sometimes they use exotic parts for their stuff.

how about just scrapping the factory unit for a aftermarket unit? it would be probably be a whole lot cheaper(even $2k for a avic unit) than a replacement factory unit..

i don't think your install can be considered 'just a carpc'

i have a couple of names for a install with that many parts, sadly most of them can't be typed and read properly though...

i am not so sure it will work on a touch screen-- i didn't see anything on their website about touch screens, or even advertising repairing scratches on touch screen devices, and that is what worries me...

I accidentally put a big scratch in a desktop LCD and used vaseline to fill the scratch. It worked quite well, you can only barely see it now. I'm not sure how it'll work with that, and even worse, if you're constantly touching it, it'll probably wipe off and you'll have to re-apply it often, but a ton cheaper than all your alternatives.

Otherwise, I agree. Put a carpc in it. The damage was a sign from above. It is your density.

                          Cheers,

                          Kris

My guess that it didnt tell him the right way to go so he abused the poor thing, lol.

I dont think any solution is going to work. You can fill in the gaps with the Vaseline, but the touchscreen still will not work in that area because the air pockets have been punctured. I would open it up, so we can see the touch panel, or simply replace the whole unit with a aftermarket system, which would blow your current setup away.
