    Hi All,

I drive a 2002 Ford Focus that comes with a factory 1.5Din unit. I currently run a single Din 7'' kenwood flip-up in-dash DVD player.

I recently built a car-puter thinking I could use my kenwood unit as the screen. EHH WRONG... the video input on the brain of the Kenwood is RCA (yellow plug) and the outputs ont he computer are HD-15 or DVI (digital outputs). In order to get display on the kenwood I would need a video converter of some sort which would make it look even worse on the already low-res screen I have in the car.

Anyways my potential solution was the Xenarc MDT-X7000

Seein as its out of stock and discontinued that doesn't seem like an option any more.

What would you car-puterers suggest I do? I would like a system that includes a standalone audio unit (like the MDT-X7000) for redundancy incase the carputer stops working or I'm having issues with it, I'll still have music.

Does anyone have any suggestions or know of any products that fit 1.5Din or Single Din with screen flip-out other than the 2 Xenarc units available???

Not any that are worth recommending.

Let's face it: In-dash flip-out screens suffer from poor build quality.
The additional expense to manufacture a quality, reliable unit would increase the price point beyond what most would be willing to pay.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
