  • Mini Touch 700 versus Lilliput 669HB

I'm thinking of building a car pc for my e46 bmw and so far my main concern is with the display. From the reviews I've seen on the site the Lilliput 669HB and Mini Touch 700 look like pretty good displays for the money, but I was wondering if anyone had any input on which of the two look better. Feature wise they seem to be close, with the mini touch having the native support for 800x480 while the Lilliput has HDMI input. I do prefer the HDMI, but how is the brightness and viewing angles of the two screens? Is one better than the other, and also how do they compare to screen found in Pioneer/Kenwood double DIN decks.

    Thanks.

dont have any experience with kenwood units, but there's no real difference between the high brightness lilliput 669 and the mini touch. Same nit specs (450), same touchscreen. Really comes down to whether or not the difference is price is worth HDMI to you.

thanks for the quick reply... that makes the decision slightly simpler. Now I need to see which one will fit into the double din adapter for my e46.

Sonic is dead on. Actually our Mini Touch 700 uses the exact same LCD panel as the Lilliput 669 HB. You just have to decide if you want HDMI or 800 x 480. If you are running the monitor at a low resolution as most users do the HDMI is pretty much pointless unless you are worried about the size of the connectors on the cable.

Thanks both for your replies. My concern with VGA was just noise in the cable, but if that's not really a concern then it should be alright. Now I just need to see which one will fit the custom bezel that's needed by the E46 bmw's since my factory deck is a single DIN.

When mounting these screens in the car, do you have to completely take them apart or do you still leave the factory frame on?

Looking around on the mp3car and mo-co-so stores I see a few screens up to $600 and more... is the difference just that they offer better visibility in daylight or is there something else? Sorry for these questions, I've just never seen one of these screens in real life so all I have to compare are stock units like the Pioneer, Alpine, etc.

          Thanks again.

The higher priced lilliputs are transflective. This gives them greater sunlight readability.

Take a look at this link for some comparison pics between the different models
              http://www.mo-co-so.com/PhotoGallery...&PhotoNumber=3
Both the Mini Touch and 669 HB are going to be the same as the pic on the top right of the link.
Generally speaking if you are putting the monitor in the dash you are going to strip the plastic frame.

i have one more quick question... since they both share the same LCD am I safe to assume that they would both be mounted the exact same way to a bezel? (i just want to make sure that they way they mount is the same)

Yes the way the LCD panel mounts would be the same. It is the control board in the Mini Touch that is different.

do you guys not have any problems with using a VGA cable in the car? It seems like in a car environment, with varying temperatures from really hot to really cold, there could be quite a bit of interference introduced in the wire

                        Tibimaki
They will be arriving early next week. We will have them listed for sale when they come in on our site.

It depends on a lot of things. Most people do not have a problem with VGA.

the mini touch has any hidden menus or any other hidden special features?
I'm wondering how come it's not widely spread since it's cheaper then a similar Lilliput?
this is the only reason that it's holding me back(the bracket too) on buying it.
