  • Did I break my lilliput?

I've connected it to my carpc and wired it to my 12 volt cig lighter. It seemed to have worked but the touch now doesn't work the screen works great but the PC Doesn't recognize any touch controllers.

Did my 12 volt Cig break or burnout some chip? The manual says 12-14 volts. . . so you guys tell me, what should I do now?

    Need more details....
    - What OS? Are you using a stripped-out OS like TinyXP?
    - Did you install the drivers for the touchscreen?
    - Are there any devices listed in Device Manager that have issues? HID devices?
    - Is the touchscreen connected to a USB hub or a USB port on the motherboard?
    - Have you powered the touchscreen with the AC adapter? Did the touch controller work then?
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

      thanks for the reply.

      win7 full
I installed the drivers, it was recognized and all working at home with a regular psu, brought it to the car worked twice then stopped. brought back in house and it didn't work on the regular psu. the lcd was powered off the wall at home and in the car originally off it's own 12v source but now on a 12v rail from the carpc. This lilliput has the touchscreen connect by external usb. In device manager now, it shows no devices not working, but it also doesn't show any touch screen active devices. The touchscreen just isn't recognized at all in windows.

unfortunately it's attached to the carpc, ie taken out of it's own case, but I can veryify that the usb ports do work.

This happened to me once. I thought my touchscreen was toast. I think I fixed it by uninstalling the drivers, unplugging the usb cable from the computer, rebooting, and finally reinstalling the drivers and then plugging in the usb cable.

Ironically, I am having the same issue. My screen worked fine in my last car. It also worked fine while on my "workbench" just before I installed it into my current truck. But now that I installed it, the computer isn't registering any sort of USB device even though the screen is unchanged and works fine (visually). I have verified that the USB port and extension cable works by plugging other things into it without problem. Keep in mind that this is the same USB etension cable that I was using in my past install...so absolutely no changes in hardware OR software has occured...ug. Oh yeah, I have tried using a shorter USB cable (1m as opposed to a 5 footer) but no change.

Last night I found this thread and tried what Kegobeer suggested (which is now the third time I've tried it), but it also didn't change anything since there is no USB detected whenever I plug it in.

I have not messed with the power cable yet, but I might try running an extentsion cable out to the car and plugging in the monitor (with the original wall power cable). I might also try plugging in the VGA-out cable and using the USB output that is part of that cable (while still using the HDMI out for the actual video input into the carPC). I'll let you know if anything works...do the same for me.

              Cheers

I wasn't at home, so I wasn't able to try the power cable, but I was able to get it working!!!!!!! I used the USB cable that is coming out of the VGA cable bundle and Win7 recognized it instantly (I had the drivers/software already installed). I'm not using the VGA cable for the video...I am still using the the HDMI cable for that. I don't feel that this is a "solution", but it is a good workaround I suppose. I hope it works for you too!

Thanks, I'll try switching more cables around, but ATM my solution is $12 ebay touchscreen controller card .... I'm going off the assumption that when I powered the screen off the car 12v line it blew a chip ... we'll see what I can work out, thanks for the help

I too am using the cigarette lighter to power my screen in this vehicle, but while I had my dash still apart, I decided to plug my screen into the outlet from garage (using the original AC adapter and an extension cord) and my touchscreen still did not work (when using the USB cable from the HDMI out). But my system is still working like a champ when using the USB cable from the VGA out instead. It just sucks having that extra bundle of useless wires in my dash now... :P
