  • how do I use powerstrip for tm-701L touch screen...

Hi, I have a dell inspiron 7500 laptop with a 8mb ATI mobility P graphics card running on windows xp. And a 7" tm-701L touch screen

I installed Powerstrip and made a .inf file setting the resolution to 800x640.

Then i try to update my monitor drivers using the inf file, but it says that the driver i'm trying to use is not better than the driver I already have. so it won't let me do it. Is there anything i'm doing wrong? or my monitor just wont support that resolution.

    Thanks!!!

posting another thread isn't going to help you

    try using google

obviously no one has tried running powerstrip with an i7500

also, dont let it do the updating automatically, specify the driver using that .inf file instead of letting it search, of course it'll never allow the .inf to work

Just thought id paste this, all powerstrip users with EPIA boards should take note.
From the powerstrip tech support : ""
You must have sent this to the wrong company. In the Release notes, there is
no mention of support for the Via Epia or Via anything. It is untested
because it is unsupported and never will be supported.

But all you need to do is hit Ctrl+Alt+S to restore your settings, and then
wash your mouth out with Tabasco or something stronger.

hehehehehe....I abused them for wiping out my hdd. :P
.well anyway dont use powerstrip. Its not supported on EPIA boards and I dont think it works in well with XP anyway.

how about unistalling the default disply drivers, and try to install whatever you are trying to install for the display.
        Its worth a shot IMO

I have an Epia M and the driver support 848x480 resolution.
It's the best I have tried with the TM-701L. Perfect 16:9.
But it doesn't work with MediaEngine, and I found some problems also with myHTPC menu... some items are missing and you cannot go back....

Is not on the main panel, just click the advanced button, select the hardware tab and click on the "list all modes" button.
Can be different in your installation as I'm using an italian versioni of XP.

hrmmm bugger, coz i got the normal XP pro, and 848x480 aint there either, so i have to settle with 800x480 with my EPIA M.

risking to be repetitive, i cant get the 800x480 resolution either!!!
                  stimps> HOW?

ps the resolutions im allowed are the ones you get in advanced>list all modes settings. I DO NOT HAVE 800X480. "all" i have is: 640x480, 800x600 and so on till 1200x1600. am i missing something?
