  • Help TV Out wont work on laptop

I have a laptop which has s-video output from the back of it. I have had to buy a s-video lead, s-video to composite converter and then a composite converter, i have tried plugging this into my tv, and i get a little flicker but no desktop or anything.

What could this be, is it my laptop, i have tried it on several television and at all possible resolutions with the min refresh of 60Hz?

Oh dear here goes my project down the drain! I looked around and i have seen vga to composite converters, however they are $129 which is not cheap, but cheapre than a pc or a new laptop. Also where can i get a dv to dv transformer to step up to 20v to power the laptop?

    Thanks all in advance.

Aren't most older TVs limited to 50hz? Which is why you often get a choice when loading Playstation etc games whether to run at 50 or 60hz. Are you able to drop it that low?

its a new tv i am running it on. It works with my other laptop, however i think its because you need to change the setting in the display panel , so i am downloading the latest driver to see if that works. Thanks for the input though.

On my old laptp it has a ATI graphics chipset, you have to have the TV connected and turned on before you turn on the laptop.

the TV out was only enabled when the laptop detected that a TV was present.

or maybe you have to goto the display settings/advanced option
and see if you have an option to turn on the TV out.
