  • Lose Touch control (Lilliput) After resume from Standby

Any one have any tips to over come this issue?

I have tried unplugging the actual USB cable ad replugging it back in. Doesn't Help

    Sometimes a reboot helps

I have a Zotac H55-ITX, i have started an RMA process on the board through the MFG but am hoping that it isn't the motherboard. The reason i think it is the motherboard is because USB on all ports seem quite flakey

    Very irritating

are you able to try hibernate with the screen on another pc?

though, i suspect the same as you-- faulty mo.bo. drivers..

I have hybrid sleep enabled so when the Aux battery is below 11.5v it cuts the 5vsb and will resume from hibernation. Resuming from hibernation takes longer than a full reboot (so whats the point right...). Anyhow i remember on occasion i had the same issue resuming from hibernation. I don't have another touchscreen to test with and this screen is in a motorized housing that is really difficult to bring inside the house and test on another machine. i suspect i could bring a laptop out to the car and test but the problem is it is intermittant.

On monday i will RMA the motherboard. Actually i do have the RMA process completed i just need to send it in. I have been holding off thinking it may be the power supply or something else but i am down to the motherboard or touch pannel.

I guess the only way that i will know for sure is by bringing a laptop out to the car. I will work on that

So before I sent back the motherboard I tried one last thing... Fresh Windows 7 install to rule out any driver or OS issue. After the OS was installed with all the motherboard drivers i went to install the touchkit drivers. I found that it wouldn't even recognize the Universal USB touchscreen Device on the new build (Windows couldn't find it). So I thought it must be the touchpanel or controller. I switched USB ports and it was immediately recognized. In fact I tried plugging in another device into the USB cable that the touchscreen was plugged into and it wouldn't recognize any device plugged into it.

So at this point know I at least have 1 bad USB cable... perhaps other issues as well. I will monitor things on the new build but I am optimistic that swapping cables will resolve the issue

So it wasn't the cable... well only the cable. Today even after swapping cables I lost touch control after resume from standby.

So I packed up the motherboard and shipped it back. Let's see if the new one they send me is any better. I am betting that the problem was with the motherboard at this point.

So I have the motorized touchscreen out of the car and will be doing some testing over the next week to see if I can reproduce this issue on a different system. If so I will know it is the touchpanel/ controller.

I am having a really tough time with narrowing this down. While testing in the house with my laptop I was able (I think) to get the touchscreen to stop working. It wasn't related to sleep though. I just left it in on for about twenty minutes and it but stopped responding.

I said I think because I left for another 20 minutes and when I came back it was working so it left some doubt in my mind that I reproduced the issue. All my attempt thus far have yet to reproduce the issue a second time.

Ill give it a go some more and see if can get it to fail again. I think the safest route thus far (once I disassemble the unit) is to replace the controller and use the heat gun method on the touch panel itself.

I wish the issue wasn't intermittant

So I have been testing this thing in the house and I haven't been able to get the problem to crop up again. I should have my zotac board back soon so I will be able to do more testing with the complete setup.

So i got my motherboard back from the doctors and was able to do some good testing today. I had everything hooked the way it would be in the car (my regular carpc and motorized monitor) inside the house on my workbench. I was working on the carputer and i noticed the touchpanel wasn't working but it was recognized as a device in the device manager. So i quickly unplugged the vga cable and usb cable and plugged it into the laptop that i was using for prior testing. This laptop was setup with the touchkit drivers and everything and it didn't work on the laptop either.

I let it sit a while longer (10 min or so) and it started working again on both systems. This definitly isn't a motherboard issue. This is most definatly the touch panel. The thing that sucks is that this was a specially enhanced sunlight readable lilliput and replacing the just the touch pannel the MP3 car store wants $300. I am going to try the heatgun trick as a last resort

So I took the motorized housing apart and applied heat to the sides of the touch panel and applied pressure as indicated in the stickied thread in the LCD forum. I got everything back together. Time will tell if it resolved the issue.

Its been a couple of days testing in the car and I haven't had any hiccups. Will continue to monitor another week or so of use before I call this fixed

Unfortunately today it was pretty hot out and my car sat in the sun for quite some time. My theory about this having to do with heat is spot on I think. Anyhow it stopped working when I got in the car, after running the AC for 15 minutes it started working again.

I will have to bite the bullet and try to get the touch panel replaced.
