  • Lilliput 629GL blank screen sometimes

Hi, i have a small issue with my screen not displaying anything.
I THINK it's only when it's damn cold, and most of the time it's ok.
This morning it was 1 degree here and everything starts fine, i can press the screen and can hear it doing something.. vol up/down/mute etc.
After work, it was fine again. Has done it a few times.
So i'm just wondering if this is normal for LCD's? do they have trouble when it's cold?
    Cheers

where are you located that it is 1deg outside? right now, i have the air conditioning on, and it is like 85deg F, with 95% humidity(so it feels like 105)...

lcd's do have some trouble when it is colder, but i don't believe they should remain in a state that doesn't show a picture. at the very least, you should see something on the display-- either really dim, or maybe just a backlight..

have you tried to turn the screen off and on once the car warms up?

      I'm in Adelaide, South Australia..
on my way to work on friday it wasn't working, but by the time i got to work it had woken up (didn't notice when). Just turning it off then on didn't do anything at the time..
I'll try to keep an eye on it and let you know..

ok.. well i've been keeping an eye on it, and it's only happened a couple more times.. until yesterday.
Since then the screen hasn't come on at all..
Everything starts, light comes on for the screen, touchscreen works..
        just can't see anything..
Any ideas? I'm going to pull the screen back out on the weekend and see if it works on the bench etc..

sounds like a bad control board.

so what does that mean for me? Would it be easy to fix? Or does it mean a new screen?... I wonder if that's why the guy from here sold it..

the control board is easy to replace(just a couple screws and connectors) though, i don't think it is very cheap, which might mean that a new screen is a better option...

maybe try emailing mp3car, or mocoso for a idea of price to get a new board, and then make a decision on it..

great.. about 2 months from the current screen..

i don't think it's completely gone though cos it was working on the way home from work, but then i went out again, and it was no good again
Cheers, i'll let you know how things go...

was it a used screen? if it was brand new, try contacting the seller.

Well.. it's got nothing to do with the temp.
I pulled the dash apart to expose the screen again, and when it's not showing anything, i can tap the side fairly firmly, and it can pop on..
So i'm wondering if it might be a loose connection inside or something
