  • Liliput strange reverse switch bug. With no inputs connected.

Heres the youtube video i uploaded.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2XQDzoqBXI

Basically what happens is that when I switch to reverse and back to park it works fine. If i switch to reverse wait for no input signal screen to shut off and then go back to park the screen displays "No input signal" backwards and screen fades to white??? what do you guys think? sorry for the quick post.

it almost sounds like the controller board is bad.

though, it might be best to test with a video signal on both inputs before looking into replacing that.

It was sent back to mocoso for this and another problem. but they could not replicate this one. The other problem was in my other post of the colors being very dark. They reset the screen and the colors came back. But I do not know what is causing this. I would have to test with inputs installed to see what happens. Have not had good luck with this screen so far.

Soundman, looks like that weird behavoiour does not show up with pc and reverse cam hookedup. strange.. i guess for now i will ignore this and just assume its a bug in the screen software. oh and soundman, i think you remember my old post.. im still having a rough time with the video noise on both my PC and Reverse camera. I know before I said it was just the camera but the laptop was running on AC/DC adapter. now its running off battery same point as the camera. Took another video to show it. I wonder if i should re route my cables? it seems as tho i need some time of filter to clean the signal. In the video the car is running and showing the noise. with the car off its still there but its much much less.

I just wish i could fix that noise. Im basically just finishing up my install... tried my best to show the noise in the video but its hard to see but its really annoying its much worse in person.

the link below is the post i made long time ago about us trying to figure this out.

1 issue down, 1 to go

where is everything getting power right now? directly off the battery, or through any device, or factory power wire?

            also, where is everything grounded?

Soundman, sorry for the long delay for a reply, i just wanted to test things out before I came back and bothered ya. Ran an RCA outside of the car and the noise on the camera is like completely gone! very very faint when the car is running (barely noticeable). I am assuming re-routing the VGA will be the same result. So what I will be doing is buying another VGA cable (old one is 16ft, new one is 10ft) and re-routing through the center of the car where no other cabling exists. Right now everything is run with the factory harness and battery cable (battery is located in trunk in Dodge Chargers). I am really excited at this point. Just re route my wires and button everything up and should be looking good. I didn't even have to cut the egg off the liliput! I'll post pics afterwards. It's just a laptop setup but it's pretty neat! thanks talk soon soundman!

Took the wiring out today, and ran the vga for laptop and rca for camera outside the vehicle and in the window. The VGA connection is showing the exact same noise on screen. Slightly less with charger unplugged. I don't understand where this noise comes from when the laptop is running on battery! crazy.. and the RCA outside the vehicle is showing some noise. The RCA on the camera runs through the trunk lid with the power for the camera and third brake light. When I tested before I used an audio RCA directly from the camera and outside the trunk to the front of the car through the window. Could it be picking up noise because it runs through the trunk with the power? this is nuts the amount of noise I have on both. I wish someone had a carnetix power suppy I could use to test to see if clean power would solve this. Hate to spend 100 dollars to find no change. I am so close to just pulling everything out and giving up. Crazy that I started this project over the winter and its summer and still having problems.. Any hope or ideas guys?

                    Soundman bare with me lol

Your basically one of the only guys on here that ever reply's to my posts and I really appreciate that. Ok here are some things I've tested to rule things out...

-Tested powering the screen and devices directly off the battery. No change.

-Tested powering the screen with the included AC adapter and noticed no real change. Reverse camera was actually a bit worse.

-For the reverse camera I've tried a set of audio RCAs using only one channel to act as a video cable. Seems this has pretty much cleared up my static on that point. All that is left is very minor and I am satisfied with that now. So hopefully when I route the cable through permanently it acts the same and it should since I even put the cable all over the battery cables and it did not pick up any noise must be a good cable.

-Vga cable I've tested it outside of the car with it far away from all power cables. No change.

-Vga cable tested with the laptop charged removed from equation and still no change.

-Tried to ground the VGA cable at the screen end and no change.

-My VGA cable is 16' and ordered on ebay. I've ordered a 10' cable on ebay from a USA seller. Should see it soon.

-Vga cable also had noise running off the AC power adapter on the screen.

-Tested the laptop directly off the liliput vga cable. With the car on and off the picture is perfect! But when the laptop charger is running lines do show up.

So where we are now is that my camera video RCA will be replaced and should be just fine with the scosche brand audio RCA. Seems to have cleared up that portion. For the laptop I need to clean the 19v charger signal. And appears my 16' VGA cable will not work. I've purchased a 10' cable. Do you think maybe the 16' was poor quality? What can be done on the charger to clear that up? Thanks!

i really don't understand why i am the only one replying-- there are tons of people with noise problems, and probably many older members that have seen it more...

do you have a link/pic of the vga cables?

i really don't know what else to recommend.. i wonder if you use a 12v regulator off the 19v output of the power supply to power the screen.. though i really don't know if that will help at all

Hey the vga is just a standard vga with ferrite beads on the ends. I assume its insulated. I bought it on ebay though from china. used to work great on my plasma tv. But get this, I bought a $58 dollar 10 foot monster cable vga from bestbuy. And it works perfect! looks like I had a poor quality cable. So I will most likely return this cause 60 bucks for a cable is nuts. I will buy the same one online for less. Last problem is the car charger for the laptop induces a small amount of noise. I've tried it directly off the battery and no change. So I will do some reading maybe add a capacitor on the end to clean it up. I will report back. Getting closer and closer. Glad I didn't give up!
