  • Need advice on touch screen, can act as mouse for pc, and includes a radio

I know this question must have been answered a million times over but I'm at an impasse. I'm researching in dash tft's with connections to act as the touch mouse for a compuer, but also has a built in radio and CD / DVD so I wouldn't have to mess with a computer solution for AM/FM. I can always be talked out of looking for a unit with AM/FM, I just figured it would be easier to connect to my steering wheel audio buttons? Any comments would be welcome! Thanks!

So far I've been looking at:
    Lilliput GL701-NP/C/T
    CID650 - 6.5" Double-DIN

My Vehicle is a 2009 Nissan Altima SL, and looks like the following pic:

Hey Welcome to the forum! You would be better off using the Directed/Visteon HD radio unit and Mitch's USB cable. Most built-in AM/FM units like you describe only work when not in computer mode. The touch screen and DVD work in computer mode though as well as stand alone mode. Also if you are going to use a front end, the HD radio's have plugin's for most of the popular FE. You can use the Joycon for steering wheel controls which also has a plugin. Hope this helps and good luck on your project. SNO

Trying this again since I don't see my response...

Thanks SNOtwistR (for the resply and the welcome!) I'm noobing it up so I'll have to look up those parts you mentioned and think of some more questions to ask. Oh, did you also have an LCD I should look at? Deciding between a motorized single din or a complete in dash double. I know Metra makes replacement consoles to give it a flush fit.

your first 'x' number of posts are put in a moderation que to make sure you're not going to start spamming the forum.

for the screen choices, i currently support in-dash screens only. while some motorised screens have been upgraded/corrected since they were last really talked about here, they all received some utterly horrible reviews back then, so unless you feel like being a paid-tester for the newer versions, there are not any models i would put in my own car..

Wish I didn't just press the Reply to thread button, effectively erasing everything I just typed.
Anyway, thanks Soundman. You talked me out of motorization. I'll look around for a monitor other Altima owners have used or a combination with replacement dash.

The Store has a direct fit for your car http://store.mp3car.com/Direct_Fit_D..._p/dsh-084.htm This might be a good solution if you don't want to do the mods yourself, personally I would ask for a 5-wire touch if you can't afford or they don't have capacitive touch. If you do the mods yourself then I would highly recommend this monitor for the money its very bright in sunlight and the 5-wire does make a difference in touch accuracy. http://store.mp3car.com/Lilliput_669..._p/mon-123.htm Just my 2 cents SNO

Thanks SNOtwistR. I'll have to post some final components before I begin putting this thing together.
