  • HDMI to RGB+Sync?

I'm planning out my next build on a 2010 VW Jetta, and I am going to base it around a Samsung Galaxy S2 phone and stock VW RCD-510 head unit.

I'm planning to use the video output on the phone (HDMI) and use a video input adapter box to hack into the stock screen:
    http://gsmserver.com/shop/video_inte...th_rcd_510.php

...and then run the new MimicX2 bluetooth touchscreen controller to control the phone from the stock touchscreen.

The video input adapter has several composite A/V inputs and 1 RGB input to use with an aftermarket nav box.

The pinout for the RGB input is attached. Its basically 5 pins that are used: R, G, B, Sync, and Ground

I'd like to get the best quality video possible, so I'm thinking of trying to convert the HDMI signal from the phone to VGA, and then from VGA to RGB+Sync.

To get from HDMI to VGA, I'd use an adapter like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Conversions-Te...to+vga+adapter

To get from VGA to RBG+S, I found some circuit diagrams here:
    http://www.epanorama.net/circuits/vga2rgbs.html
    or this product:

Will this setup work or am I better off with just going for a HDMI to Composite adapter and call it a day?

I believe that you wouldn't be able to do this with out some sort of 'transformer' to change the digital signal (HDMI) to an analog signal (RGB). I'm not sure what exactly that would entail off the top of my head, but I am pretty sure it doesn't come very cheap. Correct me if I am wrong.

Sorry, silly me didn't spend the time to check your links. Yes you should be fine with that method. You would not be able to skip that process as I said before. That isn't too expensive either so go for it and report back if it works!

ok thanks. Yeah, I was thinking the HDMI to VGA adapter would take care of the digital to analog conversion.

I also found this adapter for even cheaper:
