  • my LCD Mount is complete!

I spent all day trying to figure out how i was going to mount my LCD to my old radio so i could use the frame. After about tossing out my old idea, and a few others I came up with today, I sat down with my dad to come up with some ideas that would have minimal damage to the LCD or its case so I could remove it easily, and reuse it in the future.

This is the end result. It slides in the din slot perfectly because it uses an old factory radio frame. The electrical tape was to cover up some sharp edges, and to make sure nothing accidently shorts out.

Im pretty happy with how it looks/came out. I have it sitting next to me on the desk with now hooked up to my stereo so i can get used to the controls and get it ready for the install. All i need now is an amp to hook up to the speakers, and the opus.

Hehe I had a different approach... I took the screen apart and mount it into my dash. There goes the warranty =P

I tried taking the screen apart, but when i removed the back plate and then the front, i knew it would be MUCH harder than i wanted it to be, and odds are, i would have probably broken it .

            mount

Very nice install. I am thinking of doing something similar but I am struggling with exactly how to. Can you explain how you were able to attach the screen to the radio housing??

I got some 1/4inch thick wireties from home depot, and used the screw holes which attached the back of the LCD and screwed the ends down. You can kinda see that in the first picture here. I ended up flipping the screws around, but its the same basic idea. I put one at each corner. Inside of my radio thing there was a cross beam that was about 1/2 up and only an inch wide. I just used that as the anchor and secured each tie to the one diagonally across from it. I then ran the power and video cables in, tieing those down in 3 diff locations so they couldnt get accidently ripped out or come loose. It holds it VERY secure, and it didnt require me to destroy the original casing, so i could take it apart and put it back together in the future.
