  • Lilliput screen blinks on/off when on Video1 with backup camera connected

    I replaced my custom unit last March with a Mp3car direct fit Lilliput (I forget whether I have EBY701 or 629GL), but I added a backup camera and added the reverse switch. I get 12V when its in reverse, but it won't switch automatically, and if I manually go to Video 1 where the connection is made, the screen blinks and I get an image from the camera for a split second. It might come on every 5-10 seconds but immediately goes back off.
    I had this problem with a backup camera last year after I did this, and I thought the camera was bad, so I sent it back and just recently bought a new one. It's the PAL camera that Mp3car sells. Is the signal not compatible?

    This is really annoying since I have gone through the effort to route the wires and mount the camera cleanly.

    Further, I can't even access the hidden menu on this LCD. I've typed 588998 and hit the menu button on the monitor itself and I think I'm starting to wear it out.

    I connected my video camera to the input on the Lilliput and it actually works. So do I have another bad camera or is something else going on?

    The camera says PAL and the Lilliput accepts PAL input.

      Mp3car store support is terrible, so I am relying on you guys. I powered my backup camera with a 12V brick inside my house and hooked up to my TV and it works fine. My video camera connects to the Lilliput fine, so I know the input is good. Is it possible they are selling a backup camera that is NOT compatible with the Lilliputs they sell?

      The camera says the system is PAL, which I would expect for Video 1 or Video 2 of the EBY701, so what gives.

        PAL is a video format used in Europe and other locales.
        I'm not 100% certain, but I believe PAL and NTSC don't play nice together.

        If the Lilliput & functioning camera are both NTSC, then the PAL camera won't work. I'm speculating, but that may be one possible problem.
        Have you looked in the FAQ yet?

              The website is broken and I can't even file an RMA. To make things worse, I was poking around last night and found the EXACT same camera for $14 on Amazon, a tad bit lower than the "sale" price of $34.95 on Mp3car. I have sent them several emails but I'm not getting any assistance.
