well, basically i do find some monitors on the E-bay. but the thing is, they have composite video input (the yellow connector that looks like audio RCA) is this any good?

no that isn't good, you need vga,dvi or hdmi input

can you give he width and height for the desired monitor, I can have a look at some china vendors I know

        or you can use this:

converting the signal to vga or whatever isint hard. i am more concerned about the wuallity of the image, since it's manufactured to use only Composite...
the dimensions, can be everything with height about 11-12cm (Actual screen) and width , 18 - 26 ... (thats why i look for 12.3 )

the aspect ratio is wrong, it should be really wide and height should be minimal , that's what I understand from it

yiap. this seems like the best option. and there are those : http://www.ebay.com/itm/PAIR-12-2-SU...5f0f24&vxp=mtr wich basically use the panel u posted, only with composite video input !! i suppsoe that with some major reconstruction of the dashboard, that screen would make a Bad-*** speedometer!

NO composite video input for the monitor!
                  Only VGA o HDMI.

let me know too. I am also looking for a screen that is very long with limited height.

well, i didint gone through, with it yet... BUT the only things i could find on e-bay , was, when i used search terms such as" 12.3" sun visor" ... they should all use a sharp lcd panel, wich is quite good (for their cost) , but the downside is, they have an RCA input, so you have to covert it to vga...

You could also use more than one monitor.

In the CES 2013 QNX demonstrator car they used a 7" monitor mounted side ways so it was tall instead of wide. This screen had only the speedo on it and the other screen is a 10" wide screen mounted conventionally. The 10" screen has all of the interactive stuff on it.

I will be looking to do something like this in my truck when I get to that point. I am working on getting the subs and amplifiers mounted to the rear after I finish my finals for the semester. I hope to have my computer mounted in my truck by the end of the month.

dude... i also though about using 2x 7" ... but it is sick :P i bealive it is too much even for our comunity!! :P :P
but i suppose, that especially if you have the space , AND the skills required to make it look smooth, then it would rock

Not sure about the unit in that dash, but I have this unit which is very similar in size and can display 1 full screen image like in the picture but also does 3 split views as well. I use for rearview and sideview cameras. http://www.aliexpress.com/store/prod...001289864.html SNO
