  • Lilliput connections, etc.

Can anyone who's had their Lilliput open please tell me how the wiring of the touchscreen is configured? Basically mine doesn't work, and it's going to cost me about £50 to post back to Hong Kong to have checked out, plus a ghastly wait. I suspect it's just a loose wire somewhere, but I don't want to open it unless I'm 100% sure I can fix it.

Anyone had non-working touchscreen that they fixed? Was it wiring?

Pictures and all would be appreciated.

    Cheers

Mine has been working, but I have taken it all apart. Basically the touch screen has a 4 pin ribbon cable attached. That goes into this odd 4-pin deal, then 4 thicker wires run into a small rectangular circuit board. On the other side of the board are the connections for USB.

    Hopefully these will help:

Thanks for that. Guess it's quite possible that one of the 4 wires to the touchscreen controller has come unsoldered then. Incidentally that looks to be the same touchscreen controller as sold from DigitalWW etc. Only thing I noticed during the brief time mine did work is that the Lilliputs touchscreen has firmware 2.08, whereas the other I bought has 2.09.

Here are the pinouts on the Lilliput External connections - you can always check from the touchscreen interface board to the MiniDin 9 pin whip on the LCD. www.tmz.com/wrx/lilliputLCD.html

I tested a lot of these monitors and found every possible problem they had. There were several issues with touch screen. First you should install the software and open the program. This will help you see what is going on.

The first problem was with the cable. It seems like the wiring is not making good contact inside the plug. The plug is on the actual VGA/touch cable (female). The symptoms - touch screen works for a couple of seconds to a minute or doesn't work at all. You can see when it is working or not if you look at the touch software and you see when the controller appears and disappears. When replaced with a working cable the monitor would work perfectly.

The second problem was that the controller was registering in the software but clearly not working. On some of the units all I had to do was go through the 4-point calibration and it would start working right away. On others when trying the 4-point calibration, the line on the bottom of the screen would just expire. This means that the connection between the touch screen panel is broken or the touch controller is bad.

Also I had few units that had a working touch screen but when I tried calibration it would constantly give me an EPROM error.

I was able to separate all the bad units and the bad cables so hopefully I didnít sent any bad units out. However I wish that the quality control at Lilliput was a little bit better. Other then that it is a great monitor.

Could be wrong but I'm sure thats an INPUT. You should find a cable with several phono connectors on one end and a USB on the other. That port is actually a video/audio input, not actually anything to do with USB.........

fixed mine. It was a lose connection between the ribbion cable of the touchscreen and the control. I thought of it this way. If I opened the unit and fixed it good, if not I would break the warranty and I'd have to sell the unit as a non touchscreen version for say £150 on eBay and buy a new one for £188. Better than paying £50 to send it back to Japan.

I'd say get it open and have a look. BTW I got a yellow FTO.

What is the EEPROM error? I am having that too...
Touchscreen was working fine, then after about 3 hours along the right hand side the calibration wwent out... I tried to recalibrate on 25 pt and it shows a graphical representation of how the calibration is out but does not correct the problem...
How about all the people with defective touchscreens club together as a united front to get this guy to sort out our problems? Enough complaints to eBay and they will sort it out.

Sent it to Hong Kong in the end, only actually cost me just over 13 squids including insurance and signed-for. Should take 3-5 days. I'm wondering if they will pay my shipping too actually, as they requested I send them a copy of the postage receipt.

Yellow FTO, that'd be the Ltd Edition GPX with LSD then. Nice one
