  • getting laptop to shut off LCD with CRT on

I'm running XP on the laptop, the BIOS has a setting to turn off the LCD and only use an external CRT for display. Problem is XP overrides this. It works fine until XP boots up, then the CRT shuts off and the LCD goes on. The display drivers dual monitor functionality only allows me to link the two monitors to share as one desktop. I've even tried disabling the LCD in device manager without any luck. Anyone dealt with this before? There is no newer driver that I'm aware of. Chipset is an ATI Rage 3D LT Pro running on an NEC Versa LX laptop.

yeah, that just shut off the monitor completely. i think i solved the problem... i just need to test DVD performance. i found a desktop driver for this chipset that i took a shot on. it allows me to shut off individual displays.
