  • Hmm.. possibly killed my lilliput...

Well, technically, my friend has possibly just killed my lilliput. We opened it up to fibreglass the plastic housing into my centre console, which has gone fine... but on putting it all back together it no longer bloody works!

Symptoms are that the screen turns on, the PC recognises the touchscreen being connected, the backlight for the screen lights up... but nothing actually gets displayed on the screen itself. Absolutely nothing.. if I press menu even that doesn't come up. It seems like the connection between the mainboard in the screen and the LCD itself is bust, although I can't see any problems with the ribbon cable itself.

Has anyone got any bright ideas, or am I (well, my mate! ) gonna be shelling out for a new one?

Search this forum for loose connectors and lilliputs. A lot of people had problems with their displays when the cable connecting the controller board to the screen wasn't connected properly.

Just start at the basics unplug and replug the cables to make sure they are in right then if not look for broken connections on the cable then on the boards.

The cable might look ok but it could not be connecting so unplugging then replugging is all good no harm can come if uour careful

damn.. i just did the same thing.. I was extra careful.. took it out of the case.. plugged everything back in.. BAM. White screen of death

unseat-reseat cable.. sat there for 5 hours (!) messing with the main cable.. all angles.. all directions.. jiggy-jiggy.. no good.. cable appears to be OK connector appears to be OK but screen only shows up white this sucks.. i'm gonna have to buy a new one because I'm very stuck

I think I'll find a tiny screw driver and take it out of the case without disconnecting everything next time because this seems to be such a problem

That really sucks. That is why I'm terrified of opening my Lilli up.

Bugger, this seems all too common then.

I've now broken the bastard clip on the controller board side so I have even less chance of getting the thing back in! Bodge job with insulation tape and then a new order coming up......

                Well that's just not working.
Looks like I definitely need a new connecter on the controller board and possibly a new ribbon cable.

I know I can get the ribbon from Armen... any ideas on the connecter? I know of a place that does micro-electronic repairs, is this going to be a standard sort of part?

Check for bent prongs also in the connector cable. I had that problem, but it cause the touch screen to not work, could also cause the video to not show if once of the video pins was bent.

Have you tried talking to Armen about this yet? He may be able to help you.

I remember someone broke the clip on the cable and use toothpick to fix it.
Just search for toothpick you may find it.
