    Hello
I have a toshiba tft screen that I ripped out of a compaq armada 1750, Ive extended the wires, and it works for 40cm, without distortion.

however, I was wondering, suppose I do not want to use the screen with the laptop, is there any way of changing it into a VGA input? I suppose i'll have to have another input for the power, but thats ok.
    has anyone successfully done this?
    cheers

attached is a pic of the bits and pieces at the moment.

You'll have to find yourself an LCD-controller, and they aint cheap! Could be more expensive then a brand new 15" tft !

Look on ebay and here: http://store.earthlcd.com/s.nl/sc.5/category.99/.f

Good luck (on this forum, you should find some info too, just search)

Did you test at various lengths before you settled on 40cm ?

I am just about to attempt something similar on a HP Omnibook 6000 which has a SXGA screen with 26 wires !

I ideally wanted 1-2m but may have to re-think this based on your post.
