  • EPIA-MII WinXP users: ask for help

    Hi guys,

in order to achieve our holy grail - resolution of 800x480 on EPIA-M in WindowsXP, I would like to ask anybody with EPIA-MII motherboard who uses WindowsXP to verify it can output 800x480 resolution with VIA accelerated drivers.

    details can be seen here:
    http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...&postcount=190

please share your findings with us here and let me help community by developing working BIOS for EPIA-M.

hey, I'm just using the latest MII BIOS (v1.35) and the VGA drivers version 6.14.10.0178. But even earlier drivers worked in 800x480. The only thing is that you have to select it by going to the Advanced options, Adapter, then List All Modes... Otherwise it won't show up in the regular screen.

      Mpattonm,

Take a look at the viaarena forums. I remember seeing a post where someone hacked the 1.16 bios to include the video 1.13 resolutions and reveal a number of hidden configuration options. He may have some idea on how to go about doing what you are after. Also the developers on the sourceforge unichrome project (working on linux drivers for the CLE266) may have some pointers. At least you can find a complete list of supported video modes there.

What do you use to flash backups of your bios?

Anyone else can confirm SFiorito's findings?
(I still fail finding 800x480 w. modified BIOS. BTW status is discussed here: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...391#post397391)

m - where can we download this "modified" bios? This should work on a M10K right?

I flashed my MII bios to 1.35 and upgraded the drivers to the stated version. No 800x480 options even in the advanced | adaptor | list all modes section. I can't help thinking SFiorito is mistaken.

I've just had chance to check this out for you also.

The resolution available in the advanced section is only 848x480, NOT 800x480.

It is not for download, since its really buggy. No text screen appear correctly on screen and Win res are somehow corrupted as well after hot swap. I also doubt it will ever be reading posts above. Its simply useless unless someone confirms SF.

                            talk about a brain fart....

**** guys, i completely screwed up!! sorry for getting everyone's hopes up and wasting your time mpattonm... I don't know why I was thinking 800x480 when it's in fact 848x480!! I've had my head buried in a bunch of other projects since I'm moving away from my MII now so it's no longer running, but I seemed to remember it was 800x480 for some reason.

                            SORRY!!!
