  • Headrest LCD recommendations?

Hi, noob here. I have a flip out Pyle PLTV165 and a Legacy 7.2" flipdown monitor. While I'm happy with both of these, I didn't realize how much I was missing when I walked into Best Buy the other day. The brightness of the monitors there just blew mine away. Guess i got what I paid for. I'm running a 2005 JVC KD-DV5100 DVD/CD Receiver. The deck is nice. Anyways, I'm thinking of mounting a head rest monitor on the bottom of my trunk lid. I cook out and sit outside when it's nice out so I could just flip up my trunk, pull up a chair and watch a movie. What's a good monitor for the money? I am thinking of a budget of about $300 max. Any recommendations would be welcome. Thanks!

I don't think the brand actually matters that much here as the size. Maybe a 15: one, as a 17 might be a little too big to flip up all the way if you mount it on the rear deck...

Well, the only RAW 15" LCD that I saw on the internet was like $550. I was just going to get a Pyle 8" headrest cuz it's the biggest I could find until I stopped at Best Buy and saw the quality of the stuff there.. I guess I could mount a flip down in there, but I have a sub enclosure there and it might hit the subs when flipped down. Not only that, the rattling in the trunk from my subs would shake the crap out of a closed flip down in the trunk. I don't know.........

Why not get a computer monitor? I've seen some with AV inputs I think somewhere...

Would that stand the pounding from my subs? I thought about that. I just figured the headrest monitor could take the vibrations from the sub and I can build an enclosure for it.

12" Audiobahn Bandpass with a Sony Xplod 400 watt RMS Class D sub amp. It's very loud.

I think it should hold, but that's just what I assume. I can't say I've ever seen a computer screen in the truck before with a massive bass.
Research with some installers that did this kind of jobs (surelly they must've though of putting a computer screen in there a some point).

I really can't see the necesity of a monitor in the trunk, but it sure looks f.... nice . Let me know, I was thinking of putting one in my trunk as well, so I'm really interested in this.

Well me and my friends like to cook out, drink beer and hang outside. I just pop up the trunk and I got tunes. I got the idea on memorial day weekend when I popped the trunk to listen to some tunes and had a DVD in. I flipped down my LCD in the backseat and everyone started watching it in between the trunklid through the back window. That got the wheels turning. So here I am with this idea and looking for some input from the professionals! Some of the car system installs in here are sick!!

I'd get a 19" if it would stand up to the pounding of my subs. Anyone know? With this type of monitor, I'd need a power invert, which I already have. Anyone know how much power these LCDs draw? Should I be worried about battery draining?

Lilliput 9" TFT LCD Car Monitor with TV tuner

I finally found a good size LCD for a good price. It's a Lilliput and maybe you guys can tell me something about them. I know alot of you guys are running them, but this isn't a touch screen. Any input on these would be appreciated. Thanks!
