  • Widescreen with ATI Rage Mobility?

I have a Compaq Presario 18X590 which i want to use for my carputer brain.
the graphics chip is an ATI Rage Mobility 128.
I've been trying to use Powerstrip to get a widescreen resolution of 800x480, however i either don't know how to set it or it doesn't work.
I add a custom resolution of 800x480 and save it. Powerstrip then asks me to reboot - however after the reboot, nothing is changed. And the new "custom" resolution is not listen in the display settings.

    Any ideas?

      hmm...that blows

should i run it at 800x600? or would that look too skewed?
i really don't want to buy another lappy/computer, since i already have this one laying around

yeah i would just go with 800x600. that is what most people use and even if you do get 800x480 there is no certainty that your screen will accept it as they are little sods.

Are you looking on the basic display properties?
            That one ?
Because you have to go to advanced where there is a button list all modes the resolution is added there.

yeah not many people use 640x480 as it is a bit too big i suspect.
