Hey guys, i am making my MP3 player and i am running DOS/MPXPlay and was wondering what a good cheap character LCD is, and who sells it. I am also wondering how you invert the screen. Thanks a lot, i am sure you get this a lot, sorry.
The CrystalFontz LCDs are serial, so they are very easy to install (just run a standard serial cable). However, they require that the software you urn supports serial LCDs. As far as I know, DOS MPXPlay does NOT support serial LCDs, so you'd be better off with a parallel LCD module. Also, the serial displays are much more expensive. For less than the cost of a 20X4 from CF, you could purchase a 40X4 like the ones Arby is selling. If you're really hung up on the simplicity of a serial LCD and you want a 40X4, try Matrix Orbital. Again, they are expensive but they do make nice displays (that's what I'm using now). The best price I've foud so far is Linux Central.
