  • No red color in monitor

First, I wanted to appologize if this issue has already been addressed as I have searched, but am not sure that I am using the right words when specifying my search...if it has been addressed, go easy on me please...

I am having a problem with the colors in my 7" touch screen.

My install:I installed the screen into my dash, but I had to take the backing off of the monitor in order to make it fit. As a result, the mainboard is hanging loose behind the monitor and the only thing connecting the main board to the screen part are two ribbon cables and the touchscreen controller cables. The mainboard does not move around at all since these 3 cables along with the vga connection almost wedge it behind the dash in a way that secures it.

Problem: To my understanding, there are 3 colors to an (RGB) LCD monitor....red, green, and blue. My monitor seems to only be displaying green and blue. The red color used to occasionally "flicker" in when I would be driving and if I tap my hand on the side of the dash...sometimes it flickers in and then stays there (so everything looks fine) until the next time I restart the system. This was extremely annoying, but now it seems that the monitor is only displaying green and blue without the flicker.

This is what im thinking....either there is a loose ribbon cable behind the monitor, or a ribbon cable is being pulled.

Can a pinched VGA wire cause this type of effect?

Can anybody help me confirm the problem or lead me to a possible solution...any input is greatly appreciated

You can have this problem is a wire is loose, I would start at the computer, and unplug everything and plug it in again, making sure it all the connections are tight.

I know that the problem is probably somewhere behind the dash because when I tap the side of the dash, the screen will flicker...has anyone heard of a loose ribbon causing this problem? If so, how would I "tighten it"?
