  • suggestions on a vga monitor!!

i have a 2004 nissan xterra and looking to get a monitor to put in the dash. i also have a mac mini and i am wanting to put it in the xterra. i dont really want a flip up monitor. i am looking for one that i can mount in the place of the stock stereo to create a nice flush clean look. i really dont know much about brands and models so any help would be good. thanks.

Linitx+, or if you want to go all the way, Xenarc 700TSV.

                  I've just slit my wrists!

Take a look in the FAQs and the various reviews on these forums ... you will find the answers to most of your display questions, especially which screen is best etc.

                        Me too...

But for the opposite reason. I've ed all over this forum. I've looked in all the different categories: Reviews, Newbies, LCDs, etc. etc. I can't find any mildly high-level overview of screens. Everthing I find is talking about very specific questions or problems with specific screen models.

I just need a place to get started. The store here helps where they list the top sellers, although they're descriptions don't lend themselves well to comparisons -- there are several "this is our most popular display" comments. Also plugged in 619GL in the reviews section and got no results. That's supposed to be the best seller but it's not reviewed there. In fact if I search for Lilliput over there I don't get an answer.

There's also nothing in the FAQs section about how to select a display. If I'm missing it please help me out.

It'd be great if someone just went through the list of bestsellers and just gave a one paragraph overview or something.

The Review section is very, very new. There's not a lot in there.
Try searching the LCD/Display section, as that's where most of the discussions are.

And really, as far as image quality, there are minimal differences between the Xenarc and Lilliputs.
Lilliputs tend to have more quality/manufacturing/assembly issues, but even that has tapered off significantly in the past year or so. I think they're getting better.

DigitalWW has a side-by-side comparison of a Xenarc and a Lilliput for image quality comparison. I believe it is the older Lilliput, the 619.

Lilliput model number 619 or 629 aren't really older or newer. The different between the 2 are just the case. What really new is what inside. So look for when it was made. So assumming that the later the date, the newer it is.

The guy has a point. We could use a nice "FAQ: Popular in dash screens compared" type of post. Is anyone up for it?
