  • 700TSV no signal behavior

    I just purchased and installed a 700TSV and about after 2 hours of using it with full brightness, I decided to reduce it to normal levels. mistake. As soon as I did that, the screen just died; just a blinking green standby light and an initial flash during power-up. I took it out and started to test it, attaching other monitors to the carpc to make sure it was infact the monitor etc. I've narrowed it down to either the cable or the monitor; I have no other monitor able to test the cable of the 700TSV.
    I'm 99.9% sure that the monitor is still electrically sound since there was no smell, sound, or spark to indicate such damage. I'm also fairly certain that the cable is not to blame, since there was no tension on it what so ever. Finally, the car pc still boots and sends signal to other monitors, so its got to be that 700TSV.
    I'm not an LCD expert by any means, just a moderately skill electricle geek. Any advice would be appreciated. BTW I'm not opposed to opening the LCD up to fix this, so long as someone knows what they're doing and I will check with other people to make sure that someone knows what they're talking about. Please Help!

    noticed something

    Alright, I think I know what the problem might be. I opened up the unit and I checked out the monitor connector and saw that some of the solder joints had over heated and melted together. Needless to say, this would more than likely generate problems for signal propogation; my exact problem. So, those of you with strange no signal problems despite the fact that you have a source; check out your LCD monitor jack, its probably messed up. Get a power regulator too! Hopefully I won't have any other problems.

      Me = Idoit

      Hey, just to let you guys know... If you own a 700IDT, it has this nifty little feature. If you turn down the back light on it to a ceratin level... POOF! you just told your monitor to sleep the long sleep. Now, I may not be an LCD guy but this feature seems stupid to me. 1. Because, at night, the sceen is bright right? Well, why don't I just turn down the backlight. What the hell happened? Nothing shows up now... ****, musta broke it or sumthin... Or I'm a complete idoit, personally I don't care, my monitor works now...

        Are you talking about the 700TSV or the 700IDT?
        Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
        How about the Wiki?

        Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

          Tsv Vs Idt

          I think the only difference between the two monitors is that the IDT is in a housing made for DIN slot (barely). Honestly, I was kind of disappointed with the quality of the housing and, how little room for modification there was. I'm not a huge fan of the stock setup, had to mod the **** out of my dash and the unit; not my favorite thing to do. If you need an in-dash setup, look else where or get the 700TSV and construct or purchase a better component.
