  • Saturn Vue Din Size

I am a newcomer to these forums and did some pretty deep searches for some info but couldn't find what I needed.
Has anyone installed a screen into a saturn vue?
I am picking one up next week and want to find out how an in dash 7" would fit in the din. How much modification it would need. I am thinking about a mtorized if the din is not big enough. any info you guys could share will be helpful.
    Thanks

A double din hole is just about perfect for a 7", so if the Vue has a double din, then a 7" will fit well.

Most GM vehicles use a custom size commonly refered to 1.5 DIN. If you search on www.crutchfield.com you won't find any 2 DIN or Double DIN radios that fit your car.

Well there you go, If you have a GM, your screwed...
Maybe a smaller screen? Or a hell of a lot of chopping up your dash I guess.

Saturn is a wholely owned subsidiary of GM. I have an L-series and it's much the same. You can get a single DIN adapter and install a Xenarc 700IDT or custom fit a monitor in there. I'm going the custom route right now.

Does this mean a Double-Din unit like the Infill G4 won't fit?

                Correct.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
                How about the Wiki?

Which demension (width, height, depth) makes the GM stereo not double-din compliant? The demensions I have for the G4 is w=6.93" h=3.94" d=7.5. I pulled out my factor head unit and measured an 8' (wide) opening

and the current stereo is 4.5" (height).

My only question has been depth, but depending on how it sits and how I mount it I should have some play there.

My G4 arrived yesterday, had it installed smoothly before dinner. Looks like this GM (Saturn VUE) is double-din. The only glitch was the Metra kit needed to be trimmed, a few times. Luckily I had some good advice on how to handle that.

                    VOILA!

                    A hot-knife.
Worked like a charm (no lighter, used a candle, added a nice scent too!)
