  • 10.2" 16:9 monitor

I actuallt have a 7" lilliput touch screen. It's very bad in sunlight and i have difficulties also with touchscreen when driving. Anybody knows a good high contrast/visibility in sunlight monitor? I was also thinking to a 10,2" 16:9 monitor high brightness/contrast good for sunlight. Kits without frames are also good because i have to mount it in my cockpit. Does it exist?

    Something like this:
    http://store.earthlcd.com/s.nl/sc.7/...t.A/id.4351/.f

Touchscreen is not necessarily needed! I will probably go for an alternative input device like trackball or laptop derived input tablet near the hand brake.
Anybody can suggest me some product?

yes, a 10.2" widescreen 16:9 lcd kit does exist.
I will be releasing mine to the public in the next 2-3 days.
Right now it is a bare (open frame) setup. I am in the process of designing and milling an aluminum bezel.

    Touch screeen is an option.
I have attached a teaser pic.
The panel is an AU, which is a high quality panel.
Brightness will be close to 800 nits (780 without touch) and will only loose about 12% with touch.
    contrast is 500:1
vga and video inputs will be offered.
Pricing is not set firmly, yet. But, expct this kit to go for 430ish with touch, vga and video.

are you a manifacturer/seller or only buyer? Its very interesting and contrast/brightness are very high. It also own both video composite Vga inputs. It seems perfect! I'm very interested! No frame needed, i will build mine with GFK. Can be also useful separate electronics from lcd screen for depht issues ( i don't want to cut my cockpit)
Please post more info and more or less price in non touch screen/no frame version.

I am the builder/seller. The controller can be sepertaed, but only as far as the flex ribbon allows. I would guess that I could order a loger set of ribbons for an extened mount.

Pricing for an open frame with vga, video, no touch will be in the 350-370 neighborhood.
I will update on prices, post more pics, etc once I have finished testing.

what i will need except your kit? I mean, 12v stabilised power supply? Fan cooling? inverters or other accessories or it's a complete kit? will it be readable in sunlight? Lilliput is also very reflectant, and this doesn't help to see. What about reflectivity? VGA resolution?
            Thanks

my kits are complete. You can power using a 12v feed off the computer, or I can supply a 12v regulator for 20.00
You cannot run directly off automotive power.
No fans required, this panel/controller does not run too hot.
The panels are low reflective, and both the lcd and touch panels are anti glare coated. Sunlight readable? yes and no. Direct, spot on sunlight will be difficult, but in a car, even a convertible viewing should be ok, but @ 800 nits I can't say 100% yes in all lighting conditions.
              Resolution is 800x480
panel measures 9.25" wide, 5.75" high and .23" thick
              viewable area is 8.75" x 5.25"

My apologies for not updating this sooner.
For the time being, I am putting the 10.2"
widescreen touch kit project on hold.
My annual budget for new project development has already been exceeded, and this is only July. I will shelf this for now and most likely resume in a month.
I am fully committed to this one, as response seems to indicate a want for this type of lcd kit. Hoever, I am a 1 man band and only have so much juice in the tank to run on. Prior (read more profitable) projects will require my full attention for at least the next 3-1/2 weeks.
                      Thanks for the interest!
