  • 25' VGA cable, possible?

Ive searched through these forums already, and there were just a couple threads related to this. But specifically, this cable here claims that there is no signal loss or blurriness over 25' (the guy has the same cable but 50' and claims the same thing). Is this possible? Because the price is quite attractive considering the 6' at CompUSA and the like run double that price.

PS this is to run a DennisK setup, if LESLIE could tell me how your setup is running, that would be great! thanks in advanced!

As far as I know, there's really no way to know except for buying it. I'd take the chance for only $20.

I have heard there is a maximum of 7.5m before vga gets bad. I have never used this much, but have worked in venues with VGA boosters which allow lengths up to 75m! However, the noisy car environment may mean it is less. To be honest, I'd try it - it will probably work!

Im currently looking at a 1600x1200 resolution with 85Hz. No blur, no problem. If you want to transmit a 640x480 signal it should work with 10 or 15 meters without any problem as long as you use a high quality cable.

I have built quite a few long VGA cables for use around the home. These connect different machines to one central screen, and I use VNC to control the keyboard and mouse.

I built them myself using, wait for it.... CAT5 shielded cable.
This stuff is great! Its dirt cheap and the results are brilliant, much beter than some of the shielded cables I had previously bought. I chose shielded for the shield (duh..) but also cos you need 9 wires for the VGA.

A few of the cable cross over and one runs with mains voltage (UK 240V) with not much signal problems. Im currently using a 20 footer at 1024x768, but no reason you couldnt go higher!

            Cheers

Well I went ahead and ordered one of his M/M 25 footers. I just got it in today. Works great! No fuss, blur, or anything like that. All that is left for my setup now is the head unit I ordered (with aux in) and an inverter and Ill be good to go!
