  • 800*480 is it better than 800*600

    Hi,

I am running MII 12000 on 800*600 a lilliput which the specification states that it is 800x480. Is there much different on the display if I were to put in a PCI card and runs it at 800x480.

What is the advantage of running on 800*480, looks better?

    Someone enlighten me.

It LOOKS better, but I find it less useful. Less space for better graphics, more nav screen room. Everything will be sharp in width, but tops and bottoms of things might have a blurred edge to them... but I find it perfectly acceptable. Even 1024x768 looks fine with frontends on the 7" lilliput VGA screen, just not normal windows gui graphics/text.

You also have to remember, your eyes are probably 2-3 feet away from the screen, a few blurred pixels that small aren't really that discernable until you get closer, especially with a nicely designed frontend.

With larger desktop monitors, thats a whole different story.

Even with my PCI vid card achieving an accepatble 800x480 wasn't possible. A working 800x480 with Roadrunner just wouldn't work out for me. 800x600 gave good resolution and the font/script size was large enough to effectively use the touchscreen by hand in all quandrants.
