  • BAD Experience with PYLE Gooseneck LCD mount.

Bought a PYLE gooseneck LCD Mount that screws to your passanger seat bolt. It is the perfect solution only if it was built with stregth considertations on its joints.

first the two screws on the seat bolt clamp that the gooseneck attaches to became loose, looks like they are always loose cuz those screws dont possibly have a holding power strong enough to stablize the goose neck when a LCD is attached on the mount. It must be a weld not a screw joint. result is when i installed it, the LCD with the whole mount has a half an inch movement right and left while turning your car. second,

After a few days of use, the goose necks second joint on the bottom becomes loose.. result, the whole LCD with goose neck falls down to the floor.
    that reaaaaaly sucks.

I would suggest not to buy thsi product, you will be disappointed. Also i should mention that i had no riough use in the car, im the only one who drives the car and my GF dreads tech stuff and stays away from touching anything without asking me. She sat a few times as a passanger and she does not drive my car.

They need to have strong joints that can withstand leverage type forces.

Finally, the screw behind the LCD that tightens to grip the LCD, no matter how much you tighten it, it will never be tight enough to stablize the LCD. It wont move on its own, but a little nudge of your hand by mistake and it will rotate the display about 20 degrees.

Currently i have tied the top of the goose neck to my hand brake lever with a plastic tie, and thats how its pretty stable now but i know its not the way i should do it. Unless i find another non invasive solution, to install a LCD in my car or somone has a better goose neck, i will have to cope with this crap.

Any other solutions someone knows of out there?? better gooseneck?

Well goosenecks are the wimpy way out. They are meant to be flexable.

If you want something better, mold it in your dash, or get a motorized one.

You will never be truly satisified with a gooseneck.

This really should be in the review section, if at all on the forum.

Check out www.Ram-Mount.com Website is not the greatest for navigation, but the product works really well, and you will find what you need there.

Are you sure you are not Maheriano. You seem to behave like him, and he has been suspiciously absent lately. Is that you?

Well I have had the same goosneck and it hasn't been a problem with me, everything work great....for now atleast.

Also for those saying it's the wimpy way out, well no it's not. It's a matter of preference, actually, as my car has a double din and a molded screen could fit in pefectly. I chose not to do that and got myself a mount...why? because it can easily be faced to whomever wants to see the screen (pefect for me to see the gps directions, perfect for my passenger to see movies, etc.) and if i chose the molded option, it would be located smack down in the middle of the console and be inconvenient for me and a hassle for my passenger.

I just think it looks ghetto when there is a metal swing arm coming from the floor. Unless you have an 18 wheeler that shouldn't be there. The only way that I could see it would be an inconvenience would be if you had a gargantuan truck of doom, and the center console is so very far away. I don't know what you drive, but I'll take your word for it.

I don't like seeing wires. I see wires.

Whatever works for you though. Mine is not yet OEM looking either, but all I have to do is put the trim kit to fit the weird opening. Now there is a little (< 2mm) gap on the right side.

Please don't compare me to some dude ghetto rigging a screen on a crappy piece of flexible plastic bought from Wal-Mart. I only risk fire to my components, not physical battery.

Well I don't admit to completely being wrong, most of the time I was being accused of not listening it was because I was asking more questions, not insisting they were correct. Usually I countered advice with a question on how it can be done differently and scolded (NO SOUP FOR YOU!) for not taking the advice. But I was wrong with most of it and I think I stand out more because I actually became more educated as a result of being here as you can see from my install. But the reputation of mp3car.com and its forum members is known on other forums to be less inviting than any other community I've been a part of.

What I'm trying to say is I think replies to my posts should have been handled differently but it doesn't matter since I ultimately ended up in the same place in the end. I have a show car with about $7000 put into it and I'm showing it in one of the largest shows in western Canada in 10 days to show off my mp3car.com car PC!
