  • Newbie Head unit question

Is it possible to fit 2 head units, single din size, into a double din unit, this sounds stupid i know but i've searched the FAQs and other posts and can't find a solid answer and i just want reassurance before i start buying components as this is being my last thing to figure out before i start purchasing my carpc

sort yes sorta no.... i would be concerned with the face of either unit being too large and intsll kits that "flare" the single din opening for a larger fit on one making the other smaller

but i know for my car the cobalt they make a double din kit that has 2 single din openings

      single-DIN is 7" x 2"... double-DIN is 7" x 4"

the short answer is YES, you can fit 2 single-DIN headunits into a double-DIN opening. but many headunits use an outter "frame" to that surrounds the faceplate and covers the instal sleeve. this "frame" is slightly larger than a single-DIN opening. you can work around that issue by modifying the existing frame(s) or making your own.

Has anybody ever made their own/modded one? if so how difficult would it be. I'm hoping to mount a head unit, and in dash motorized screen.

            Made their own what?
            Headunit?
            Double-DIN bezel?
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?

check to see if they make a dobule din that has 2 single din openings... or just buy a double din. modding a single din is going to be a *****
