  • Trying to Piece this together...opinions?

Hi I have been doing lots of reading and I am trying to piece all this together. Mobo's have me stumped, I am looking for one that is somewhat future friendly (I know its a stretch) I dont want it to lag while I am using the front ends.

I plan on using RR with LSX3.0 or DigitalFX
    GPS
    Video
    MP3
    Wifi

Inav seems to be a good nav program to go with.

here is what I am looking at for hardware:

Radio:HQCT /EA Will be my amp also.
    Satellite Radio:XM Package (XMD-1000) + USB adapter
    GPS:Rooftop GPS/Cellular/PCS/WiFi antenna
    Mobo:VIA EPIA SP13000 Fanless Mini-ITX Motherboard

    Montior:
I like the brightness of the Linitx 7" http://linitx.com/viewproduct.php?prodid=10949
    or
The popular Xenarc 700TSV I like what I have read about it being 5 wire. Dont know if I want to compromise the stability of the 5 wire for the brightness of the Linitx.

HD:Will be getting some sort of SSD, not sure if I should go for a CF card with adaptor or just get a SSD drive. And using a 2.5" for media.

I tried to find what people were using by looking through the Worklogs and also checking to see what people used who are using the same skins I like, but I couldnt find many similarities.

Performance is an issue with me, I hate laggy computers. I look forward to your opinions.

    Thanks

The SP13000 is no powerful beast. It works well, but if you want future proof and such, then a mini-itx c2d board would be a good option.

Also that "GPS" you listed is not a GPS receiver. It is an antenna that will receive GPS signals. Does nothing with decoding them. You need an actual GPS puck to go from antenna to PC. You dont need that antenna at all.

Thanks 2k1, I read the sticky on C2D boards and searched for info on this site about the
JETWAY J9F2-KHDE Mini-ITX Motherboard, but there isnt alot of info out there. Saw a couple of people had some issues with the sound and memory. Have you heard much about this board?

Updated list, thanks for the help on the GPS and MOBO 2k1. I have shown my changes in red. I like the price of the j942, and there doesnt seem to be too many issues with it.

Radio:HQCT /EA Will be my amp also.

        Satellite Radio:XM Package (XMD-1000) + USB adapter

        GPS: BU-353

        Mobo:Jetway J9F2-2DKHDE

HD:I am leaning more towards using CF, from what I have read they are much cheaper. Any of the cheaper SSD drives seem to have slow transfer speeds.

        Front End: RoadRunner with DFX
