  • Whats this connection

Please tell me I can get some type of VGAish signal through this plugin thingy.

    # VGA resolution output (640x480)
    # 4MB VGA RAM

thats what the stats are of that cord. But what kind of connection is it.

EDIT: its call a 13 pin interface cable, but I cant find one for purchase anywhere. Does it have a different name, and are there any adapters to VGA for this?

Are you trying to get VGA out, or VGA in? And what HU, where did you find this thing, what is it? More info will get you a better answer...

that connection is for a navigation add on. the navigation sends a VGA signal through that cord. Its on the back of my double din. I would want to see if there is an adapter so i can run a VGA signal from my laptop to this monitor through that plug.

Ok so you want VGA video in through that plug, but it says VGA output... Is that on the supposed navigation output pictured, or the actual HU input? Did you messup the VGA wording? Just seems odd.

But if it truly does accept a VGA signal, then try to find a datasheet on that unit you have, or open it up and look where the traces go to try and find power, ground, sync lines, colour lines, ect...

There isnt a standard connector for something like that, so you are going to have to make your own. And there wont be any how-to's so you are going to have to do some investigating on the PCB and various refresh rates, sync rates, output variences until it works.

Do you have any knowledge about electronics? (I mean between IC level and component level, not ipod level).

For the cord, see if you can get a replacement from Dual.

As to how to wire it...YOU will have to do some research. THEORETICALLY you could be able to completely interface a car PC with that HU. IF you could figure out the interface (and it probably isn't too fancy). But to do that you will have to disassemble your HU and take signal readings at all the points...see where things are wired up.

Anything is possible...but if you searched for Dual HU car PC interface, and came up with nothing...then you are probably SOL.
