1-the thing that has alwayse kept me from building my own pc is, i dont know what is compatible with what? any help there would be appreciated.

2- If i did a full install would i be able to customize a navigation screen? how would i do this. Thanks

both questions depend on what you have in hand

list what you're planing to use and well see about compatibility

most front ends are fully customizable - from what I see most people use street deck or road runner. I know SD is for a fact.

I have not purchased anything yet, i'm just wondering should i build my PC or go with a ouredy built one? I know this is taking on a whole new build but think it will be worth it! i guess it depends on my budjet at the time.

This is such a broad question it's impossible to answer.
What hardware or software raises compativbility questions in your mind?

2- If i did a full install would i be able to customize a navigation screen? how would i do this. Thanks
You're talking about skinning an application. Different software is skinned or customized using different methods.
Find a navigation package that you like first, then see how to go about customizing it.\

            So...
What you're saying is you are worried about compatibility issues that may or may not exist and you don't know what components or software could pose potential compatibility issues?
Sounds like you need to do some research about PC building in general to me.

Sounds like you should take a trip to the informational sections:

Different people have different needs or wants.
Some people choose to retain a stock stereo.
For some it's easier to run audio from the PC into a head unit.
Some people have "shared" vehicles (a spouse uses the car, for example) that don't want to mess w/ the PC and want a true car stereo.

Each person has their own reasons for installing what they do the way they do.
