I'm wanting to install a computer into my car to use for a variety of functions, but I am not very computer savvy when it comes to building a system. Here is a list of applications that I want to run plus controlling my audio system without a head unit. I would like to use all functions through the computer. If you could please guide me through the products needed and other hardware that would make this possible, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Items I already have
    1. HALTECH: Stand along engine management system: connects via serial port
    2. INNOVATE: Complete engine vitals monitoring with real time display: connects via serial port
    3. CLIFFORD: Car alarm system: connects via serial port

Items I want in a PC
Full audio ability (currently have head unit that has Front L&R, Rear L&R, and Non-fading L&R channels) [HL]All Amplified[/HL]
    FM turner
    XM or Sirrius turner
    Media storage
    GPS navigation
    CD/DVD player
    TV turner (optional)
7" or 8" touch screen into double-din Mazda
    Small keyboard w/mouse

    Thanks for the help

We've tried to make this as easy as possible for newbies like yourself:

If you guy the OS, we can even install it for you if you so desire.

As for the rest of it, I would suggest utilizing the FAQs to help you understand what you're about to get into.

As for having it all amplified - you won't be able to have a computer that provides amplification enough for car audio speakers. You'll either need to use a head unit, your factory amplifier, or an aftermarket option.
