Hey wassup, so... im interested in putting a computer in my car. I am already stuck because i was doing research and i have come across that i need a vga touch screen in order to hook up the touch screen to the pc properly. My question is there another way besides vga. i have a tft Valor ITS-703w it is a great dvd player. im happy with it and if i dont have to change it i wont. ive searched the forum but havent found the information i was looking for. i would like to use the head unit i have with a pc and if possible hook it up to a remote so i dont have to use the touch screen. i believe it is possible and i would like to be steered in the right direction. thank you.(ps. i have searched the forum and i came up with nothing)

    yes it is possible.
but if your monitor does not have vga input, the picture would be fuzzy.
using wireless keyboard/mouse would eliminate your needs of touch screen.

It is still better and less complicated to use a touch screen though.

you can still use the screen, but you will have to find a video card that also has the analog RCA out...which i dont believe I have ever seen...however...maybe a vid card that has an S-Video out and you get yourself an S-Vid to RCA converter cable

here are 2 links to those:

      http://www.svideo.com/fsvfrca.html
      http://www.svideo-rca.com/

that may just solve your problem with the video...

(with the rest of this, Im trying to inform you, not dissuade you...so dont take this the wrong way)

the only question I have: why? have you ever seen a computer screen plugged into a TV via its analog/composite connection? it looks like crap. and things just get worse if the resolution on your screen isnt 640x480, which i dont think it is...im pretty sure yours is 1440x234, which even for DVD's it has to scale to get the picture right, in turn degrading the quality of the picture, making everything harder to read.

There's plenty of vid cards with RCA out, and even some motherboards with it built-in. But as is mentioned in many threads, RCA quality is VERY poor, and on small screens working with text, almost unusable. If your touchscreen doesnt have VGA, I just wouldn't bother - Lilliput 7" touchscreens are cheap as chips these days.

np i know u dont mean it in a negative way im just tryna learn, but yea the resolution is 1440x234. i kinda had a feeling the quality would look like crap. the reason i asked is just to get an idea of what would happen, basically what i have vs what i need. but yea thanks

no problem..thats what we're here for. you will see a lot of pro's and con's for lilliput and xenarc. they all seem to have their fanboys...but those two are i think the most prominent in a carpc application. i usually see more flak given to lilliput monitors, but i have one and i like it...

one thing you can do, if you can find a way to do it....hook up a laptop to that screen via a composite converter and see if you like the way it looks...just a thought...ive never had to do it myself...
