    do i have to switch the power supply in my computer to make it a carputer i have a hp mini e-vectra and someone said i can just buy a 12v dc power cord for it like this one pictured below

    Take a look at the AC power brick you have. It should list the output voltage & amperage on it.
    If you can find an auto power adapter for a laptop that matches the output voltage (with sufficient amperage) for your e-PC, you're golden. I don't expect that you'll find one, though.
    Never fear. That's why Carnetix is in business. Check the P1900 or P2140.

          That explains it.
          The M2ATX is an ATX-compliant PSU while the Carnetix provides a single output voltage.

          Threadjacking is bad, mmm-kay.

          And I don't think you can, as the HP motherboard is not ATX-compliant. You'd have to open the ePC to find out.

          If its not, that's what the carnetix models are for.
