  • Ebay headunit opinions

I'm starting out with a clean slate for an install - no headunit, speakers, amps, or wires. I was kicking around the idea of a touchscreen unit with gps and looking on ebay to find some prices on screens when I came across this auction:

    http://cgi.ebay.ca/7-Touchscreen-GPS...QQcmdZViewItem

I'm just looking for opinions from more experience people. Doing a google search returned this, but theres not much to see. The LCD resolution looks pretty bad from the pictures but I'm not buying this for a home theatre experience - its just for a nav stereo and anything else is a bonus.

Just thought it was an attractive alternative for the price and wanted to see if I was missing something.

    A few points:

1 - mp3car.com is about installing computers in vehicles. We eschew units like the one you linked to in favor of a full on PC. You're likely to get opinions and reviews on this unit elsewhere.

2 - I wouldn't buy it. If something goes wrong, who are you going to take it to for troubleshooting? The Ebay seller? The manufacturer? Do you even know who the manufacturer is?

3 - Quite simply: You get what you pay for. That applies doubly so with electronics.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Agreed, I was hesitant to buy my lilliput 7" on eBay, so I wouldn't trust a no-brand item like that. You should spend the extra $100 or so bucks and get a nicer one or better yet, a Carputer! What's your budget?

Thanks for the replies guys. I found some reviews on the eonon version of this where it crapped out after a couple months. Not the same unit but I think I'd be better suited with a pioneer F700BT if I pick one up cheap

Might end up going with a carpc if I could program it to control my air ride, but I've got to do some more research on that. This is going in my toy so theres really no budget and no time frame so I've got some time to think this out
