  • Mechanic: "We burned it" after remote starter install?

    Hi there,

I'm a programmer getting started with upgrading my car. I bought a 2-way remote starter and I took it to a mechanic who also said he could help with my upcoming Car PC...

When I came to pick it up, I don't think his assistant knew I was the customer:
    "Where's the 2003 Camry?"
"It was burned." he said in a suspicious way, "is that the client?"
    Maybe he was being sarcastic?
What the heck happened here? I'm thinking that maybe was lingo for something real bad.

The car seemed ok, but I noticed when the wheel is turned and the car is idling, there is a "whop-whop-whop-whop" sound. It goes away when the wheel isn't turned or if the car's in motion. Sounds like 2 things are hitting eachother.

    What do you think?

Can we assume the remote start works?

100$ insured shop I would presume, I Certainly wouldnt drive it nor accepted it that condition. They obviously were at fault and there responsible at no cost to you for repair and damage. by accepting that car how are you going to prove that it was'nt done before or after it was in th shop?
Did it.. Done it... now I got to keep the neighbors kids away!!

          Ha ha!

          Burned the ROM perhaps?!

(IE - re-programmed. If you are unsure what the killing, aborting, ripping, execution, terminated, etc refers to, just ask.)

That's usually a power steering pump related sound.
