  • Should I document my install???

Hey I'm wondering if I could help the forum by documenting my pc install.
I'll be installing a pc, an hd radio, a touchscreen monitor, and an amp sometime this week.

Would it be useful to the forum if I snapped some pictures of the install or the setup on workbench?

Any photo's I should absolutely get?

I've been browsing the forums for around a year now and have been asking some probabbly dumb questions as I'm getting closer to my install. I would love to be able to contribute to the community, so if there's any aspects that could be documented, let me know soon.

Yes.... at some point someone will have the same car as you and wonder if its doable. You will literally be their blueprints to getting it into their car.

      Documentation is useful:
-Others can learn of your solutions and experiences, so you will help the carpc community
-Easier to debug your install five years later

I say go for it. Even if noone watches your progress now, some time in the future...someone will do a search for carpc and your model car. For example, I'm about to start building a new carpc for my 2009 Saturn Vue and there is not a worklog for that year car....Sure would be nice to see some pictures of someone else that has already gone through the process..

Absolutely. That's why the Show Off Your Project Forum exists. First, go into that forum and look at the top where there's a sub-forum called Worklogs. Start a thread there to document the install.

When you're finished, PM a mod or admin and we'll move it to Finished Projects.

a lot of the work logs have expired or missing pictures so I say go for it....I'll definitely check it out. I am getting ready for a similar install in my cavalier. Its the wiring and tearing up the car I am most nervous about.

              Definitely useful!

as a test - take a look/search through the worklogs to see if someone with your car has posted an install... if there aren't many, then definitely post one up.... chances are you'll be posting.
