  • laptop power supply help please im piccy

    hello im looking at making a carputer out of an acer 5020 laptop. can somebody tell me what i will need to use so that the computer will automatically turn itself on and shut itself down when i turn the ignition on. many many thanks

    You'll need to use an auto start and shutdown circuit for a laptop. Take a search around for info on that in both the FAQs and the FAQ Emporium forum.

          yer im trying but theres so much to learn and im not very electronically minded. will they need wiring across the power switch or not

            Short answer: No.

            And as far as PSUs in the car go, there isn't all that much to learn.
            Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
            How about the Wiki?

              so does the carnetix thing plug inbetween the laptop motherboard and psu then run to the cars ignition?
