hi all i recently brought a car with a computer install the previous owner installed it but never quite finished it he has been helpfull but i dont like calling him when ever i have a problem so thought id give the forum a try, basically it runs XP and i had 2 problems one was the usb extension not being an active one and devices plugged into it were not working properly and after reading up on here last night i brought an active extension today and now that works but the other problem is if i leave a device plugged in and turn the car off the system goes into hibernation and when i turn it back on it hangs and wont open back up if i unplug the device and restart its fine can any one please tell what's up with it, it's driving me nuts i can use a computer but sorting out problems is beyond my knowledge.

maybe just setup xp to shutdown/startup instead of hibernate/startup?

i have had the same issue with the D945GCLF2. i never found a solid answer whether it was a board, bios, driver, os, hardware issue ether. the only thing i can say i changed and havent noticed it any more was updating the bios and turning off the option to boot from usb in the bios. but i dont know for sure and we dont know what your setup is.

i quote "we dont know what your setup is" im afraid that includes me too ive not got a clue but on a brighter side i have kind of sorted it but now got another problem what i did is i have 2 other usb's that are in use on the side of the base unit which doont cause a problem they are GPS and touchscreen anyway i unpluged the GPS and got hold of another powered 4 way usb hub pluged that into were i took the GPS from then plugged the GPS into the hub and also plugged the active cable in and now it comes out of hibination without hanging but i have another powered 4 way hub in the front of the car which is used at the other end of the active cable but i now have no way of powering it as im using the power i was using on it to power the other hub being used to resolve my other problem and that power comes from a little box that controls the switching on and power for the base unit sorry if it sound very confusing im getting confuse just writting it anyway the hubs need a 5V power supply so i need to find another 5V feed from somewhere so thats my next question where can i get it from.

          STEP 1)

          CPU-Z

download "cpuz 1.54 setup" and find out what your working with

now find out what hardware you got ether by calling whoever put it together or take stuff apart and open er up, its up to u

          step 2)

fill in your profile with what your workin with

          step 3)

make really confusing stuff easier to read, break stuff up a little more ... lol man i cant understand all that...

          try this:

""i quote "we dont know what your setup is" im afraid that includes me too, ive not got a clue

but on a brighter side i have kind of sorted it, but now got another problem

what i did is i have 2 other usb's that are in use on the side of the base unit
(which doont cause a problem they are GPS and touchscreen anyway)

i unpluged the GPS and got hold of another powered 4 way usb hub pluged that into were i took the GPS from

then plugged the GPS into the hub and also plugged the active cable in and now it comes out of hibination without hanging

but i have another powered 4 way hub in the front of the car which is used at the other end of the active cable, but i now have no way of powering it
(as im using the power i was using on it to power the other hub being used to resolve my other problem)

and that power comes from a little box that controls the switching on and power for the base unit

sorry if it sound very confusing im getting confuse just writting it

anyway the hubs need a 5V power supply so i need to find another 5V feed from somewhere so thats my next question where can i get it from.""

a little easier to read? for me it is

what is the "base unit"? are u referring to the original usb hub (the one that has no power) or the pc or what?

id call your original hub defective or not compatible with hibernation... but thats just a guess right now. and i say that cause it sounds like thats the only thing that changed in the equation. (im a numbers guy sorry)

more info may help with this problem but if you plan on using the forums for help in the future (which is not a bad idea) then the more info you got the better
