  • Single Din touch screen

I'm a computer tech making a venture into car electronics, and want to build a touchscreen carputer setup for my 01 Dakota. I only have a single din slot in my dash, and I trying to gt this done without making any permanent mods to the dash (resell reasons). I'm trying to find a decent touch screen monitor that will fit into a single din slot with either a motorized/spring loaded screen, or a removable screen. I would prefer to not have "steal me" written on my setup. So far the xenarc seems to fit the bill for what I'm looking for, but the thing is just plain ugly, and I don't really want to shell out $400+ for a monitor if I don't like the way it looks. Does anyone know of any other viable options? There are tons of in dash DVD players out there with touchscreen monitors, but I have no idea if they will serve as a computer monitor and retain the touchscreen function. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i tried to find my last post on this, but couldn't locate it..

    basically, i know of 3 single-din flip-up screen companies:
xenarc: used to have a lot of issues with the video cable between the unit and screen breaking-- they claimed they fixed it, but last i heard, they still had issues. lately, i have not heard any problems, but i also have not heard of any success stories..

lilliput: they used to have a lot of issues with the plastic gears that motorized the display up/down breaking. the new screens now have metal gears instead of plastic, though again, there are zero good/bad reviews on them..

revosys: they are a more recent introduction to the market. i have a hunch that most of their stuff is rebranded chinese junk, but again, zero reviews, so i don't have anything to encourage/discourage their brand..

So far, xenarc are the only ones that I can find easily. I guess I'll have to keep my eyes out on the auction sites and such for others.

try google-- that's how i found them

revosys has their own website that they do most of their business through, and lilliputs are sold through a couple carpc-centered stores(but not mp3car-- they no longer sell single din screens because of the past problems i listed)

i found revosys's site, i gave them a call...fancy expensive sounding call waiting system lol but no answer and its almost 9. unless their west coast based or out of the US thats inexusible to simple not be on the other end. but again, im not finding much other than the xenarc unit my self. the xenarc is spring loaded i want a motorized one otherwise i'll just do a normal one.
