Hi all, long time reader, first time poster.

I have a 2005 Liberty/Legacy GT and I want to install a screen into the console where the cubby is currently located.
I want to fit an mp3car 7 inch sunlight readable LCD to it.
    Its dimensions: 177mm X 107mm

There are 2 different kits I can get:

This says it is "designed for Panasonic Navigation 200mm x 100mm units."

This is the other kit I can get:

It says: "The hole size is 119mm X 180mm"

Now I'm not the brightest spark, so I have no idea how stupid the question is. Which kit do I need? Will a double din screen like that fit nicely into either of them?

normally, that would be a stupid question-- but this time, it is not your fault for not doing your homework, but the websites fault for not knowing how to use a tape measure... at least i hope so-- this is the first case where i have seen it-- it could be a japanese radio thing..

seems odd all the way around, as 'din' is a standard-- 7" by 2" 177mm x 50mm, or double din-- 7" by 4", or 177mm x 100mm... i was unaware that different radios had different sized openings..

granted, the screen does not perfectly meet 'din' standards, but is close enough that it is supposed to work with nearly all dash kits-- mine fit fine side-to-side, but was a little tall-- corrected with a dremel to the dash..

i guess the 'panasonic' version is closer to being correct, so that might be the best, though i really can't explain why the numbers are so off for such a common standard.

      Thanks for the reply.

It's doing my Head in. I went to the local car stereo shop and the guy there said the double din standard is 200x100. Wut? Different standard size in Australia? That sounds silly though...

I'd a agree with what you said though, I think the first of those kits is the go, just gotta find a screen to fit it, or confirm that the mp3car one will.

Hiya, I've got an '05 Outback and was just deciding which one of these kits to buy. Have you chosen one? How was the fit for you?

sorry shoop, i must have missed your last post...

wikipedia says the audio shop is wrong:

i have installed more then a couple of aftermarket head units, and all the aftermarket units that i have worked with comply with the din spec listed above. like i said before, the carpc screen bezel is not exactly to these specs, but it is very close that it should fit with very little issue.

Cheers Soundman, thanks for the info. I'd already ordered my panels, and they arrived yesterday. I think I went with the right one.
HazardousWaster: I bought this one: I think I did ok. When I'm not at work and I can be bothered I'll take some photos so you can see what it really looks like.
