  • Computer controlled lights

I am new here, so thanks to anyone who helps me out. I have been researching this for a while and am I little unsure how to proceed.

    My ultimate goal is this:
Have a touchscreen mounted in my car with a custom GUI that I will design to control lights inside and outside the car

There are a few ways to do this that I am aware of.
    1. Put a computer in the car, write an application that controls USB relays. (seems like overkill)
    2. Put in a custom android device that runs a custom app that in turn controls an Arduino with relays attached (seems overly complicated)

I can't just use an Arduino because that is not powerful enough to support a large (above 5") touchscreen.
Has anon here used android to control some relays or have any other way of computerizing relays?

    here is another option

Check this out. 24 channel USB controlled. I'm planning to use it in my build. It's a DIY, or you can have it assembled and tested, but I'm in communication with the inventor who I'm having write extra firmware to control my exterior lights. It's an RGB LED controller but it might work for you? I also don't want to appear as I'm endorsing this unit. All I can say is that I'm having a heck of a time finding a controller for my project and this appears to be the only reasonably priced solution I have found.

    Good Luck

      look at this...

      its only 3 channel, ie for R, G , B
but has a developer dll, and already has full riderunner support
and yes, you could use more than 1 at a time

"Did you test it in carwings??"

      Sun, Come shine my way
May healing waters bury all my pain
      Wind, Carry me home
The fabric of reality is tearing apart
The piece of me that died
      Will return To live again
