  • where to mount

I have a 91 Honda Accord lx and i wanted to put an mp3 player in my car. I already have a decent head unit and sound system. I was going to mount a 7" touchscreen in the dash, and a computer in the trunk.

Heres where i need help. The easiest place to mount the screen would be where the two slots are. However, they are really far down, and the people in the back wouldnt be able to see most of the screen because the shifter would be in the way. Where would you reccomend i mount the screen. I wanted an integrated look, but im open to suggestions as long as it looks clean. If i were to move it higher i would have to reroute the climate control.

    Thanks for any help!

If you can post a picture of your dash it might help. I don't know what a '91 Accord looks like on the inside.

Yepp pic would help. Also, how about taking off your rearview and putting it there?

        pics

Heres two pics of my dash, not the greatest pics in the world. As you can see, the shifter would block viewing from the backseat. It looks like it might get complicated trying to move the air control units, but i wouldn't know. I dont think scrapping the rearview mirror is an option.

i have a 93 accord (same interiror as your 91)
im planning on mounting the comp in the trunk
the lcd is what im not sure on
as you guy probably figured out the shifter really is in the way
i wanted an in dash lcd but even in the top din it doesnt have enough clearance to pull out

i was considering cutting down the shifter just an inch or so but i dont think i could do it myself since it has complicated stuff. not sure if any shop would do it either since they dont want to be held liable in the case that it ****s something up

Move the deck to the bottom DIN slot, and put the screen just above it? Given your car is auto, and the car will be in D when you're on the move, would that do the trick?

How about infront of the air vents?

It was one of the spots I tried on one of my SVXes. But it should be doable in your car.

If you want to be a little more creative, you can try to make what's in the photo. It's from a JDM Subaru Impreza. The LCD folds out if not in use.

I was thinking again the other day, and I was wondering if you guys thought it would look ok to mount it inbetween the two airvents. If you look at the picture, there is a little red light which could easily come out (i put it there) and maybe i could get a bracket to come out of the slot and support the screen. If i were to do this do you think sunlight would cause too much of a problem? I have tinted windows if that means anything. Also, do you think it would be too easy to steal? Maybe there is a way i could make a quick disconnect...

if it where mine and i was gonna use a indash lcd id move the headdeck down to the bottom spot then relocate the heater/aircon controls down and mount the lcd where the heater controls are like i hacked in the attachment

i recon it would be quite simple as the heater controls should have enough cable to move that far

problem with that is that the aircon controls are not the same size as a din unit
ive considered it myself but the controls are larger than a din unit so its a problem

I mounted my screen up on top of the dash where the clock is. It works quite well, Everyone can see the screen easily. Unfortunately so can cops and theves. Get your windows tinted, and take it out and lock it in the glovebox when you're parked.

The image there is huge sorry about that. You can probably do a cleaner install then I've done too, I've absolutely no experence with making modifications to cars, so I'm proud I even got the thing in at all. The wires run behind the clock and down into the passenger seat.
